COVID Policies

COVID Policies

Although we have made immense progress with the COVID-19 Pandemic, with new variants on the horizon and different parts of the world at varying stages, we feel that it is important to continue to proceed with cautious optimism in order for us to offer a safe environment for Guardia Vieja gatherings. We hope these measures will remain temporary, and we will periodically continue to update these in line with the evolving times.

  1. Event Types: Through the remainder of 2021, Guardia Vieja will solely offer Tango Seminars and Tango Concerts.

    a. Tango Seminars will be interactive classroom style events focusing on studying Tango music and dance. However, at this time we will not be offering dance instruction.

    b. Tango Concerts will feature live musical performance. These concerts are not intended to be Milongas with live music. While dancing is not forbidden, it is very much at your own risk and must follow all other COVID Policies outlined herein.

  2. Masks: Given that Guardia Vieja events are still public gatherings, we will continue to require Masks at all events. Some exceptions may apply such as when an individual is consuming a drink in a designated area. However, the baseline expectation is that masks must be worn at all times.

  3. Social Distancing: At this time we will continue to practice social distancing guidelines by spacing out any seating at our events and partnering with venues to maintain their capacity calculations. This is likely to mean that Guardia Vieja events are likely to become more intimate during this time.

  4. Pre-registration: In order to manage capacity constraints, Guardia Vieja will be requiring pre-registration, rather than accepting walk-ins at the door. Events will be announced a minimum of 2 months in advance to allow for pre-registration.

  5. Payments: Guardia Vieja will require all payments to be contactless. We will not longer be accepting cash and/or checks at this time. Patrons will have the following options:

a.) Invoicing: Guardia Vieja can send an invoice to you for advance payment, after pre-registration.

b.) Zelle: Guardia Vieja does have the capabilities to accept Zelle payments, as a direct transfer from your bank.

  6. ATX Staging: All events are contingent to the staging set by Austin Public Health. While the recommendations at the stages have changed, we will not be hosting events if Austin is at Stage 5 and we reserve the right to re-schedule and/or cancel at Stage 4. All decisions to cancel on the basis of staging will result in refunds and/or reserving your registration for the next time we are able to gather.

Guardia Vieja aims to find the right balance through a risk based approach in creating a safe environment for us to be together again and we appreciate your help in upholding these policies. We will be re-evaluating these policies in 2022, at which time we hope to be bringing back events including dance.
